Kroger Recalls Two Deli Pasta Salads in 28 States Over Listeria Risk

The action follows a supplier alert tying pre-cooked pasta from Nate’s Fine Foods to a wider contamination investigation.

Overview

  • The recall covers Basil Pesto Bowtie Salad and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad sold from deli cases at 1,860 Kroger-family stores, including Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Dillons and others.
  • Products were sold between August 29 and October 2 and have been removed from shelves, with customers notified via register receipts and email alerts.
  • Fresh Creative Foods initiated the recall after being notified by pasta supplier Nate’s Fine Foods, which has expanded its own recall of specific pre-cooked pasta lots.
  • No illnesses have been reported in connection with these Kroger salads, though Listeria can cause severe illness in pregnant people, older adults and those with weakened immune systems.
  • The FDA says other retailers have related recalls tied to the same pasta supplier, including items from Trader Joe’s, Scott & Jon’s and Albertsons, and advises consumers with questions to contact their retailer and not consume the products.
