Kroger Recalls Deli Pasta Salads in 28 States After Supplier Flags Listeria Risk

The action follows Nate’s Fine Foods’ expanded pasta recall that federal investigators have linked to a multistate Listeria outbreak with four deaths.

Overview

  • Two items are affected: Basil Pesto Bowtie Salad sold Sept. 6–Oct. 2 and Smoked Mozzarella Penne Salad sold Aug. 29–Oct. 2, according to the FDA notice.
  • The salads were sold at deli counters and in grab‑and‑go packs at 1,860 Kroger family stores, including Ralphs, Fred Meyer, King Soopers, Dillons, Fry’s, and Smith’s.
  • Kroger acted after Fresh Creative Foods notified the company on Sept. 26 and again Oct. 1 that Nate’s Fine Foods had expanded recalls of pre‑cooked pasta ingredients.
  • Kroger reports no illnesses linked to these deli salads; all affected products have been pulled, customers are being notified, and shoppers are advised to discard or return items for a refund.
  • The recall is part of a broader investigation into prepared pasta meals sold in roughly 15 states, with federal agencies tracking cases and related recalls at other retailers such as Albertsons, Walmart, and Publix.
