Kristoffer Olsson Ends FC Midtjylland Contract to Focus on Recovery and Family

The Swedish footballer, recovering from a rare brain illness, has returned to Norrköping to train with his youth club and work toward a potential comeback.

Kristoffer Olsson, 29, mutually terminated his contract with FC Midtjylland to prioritize recovery and family life in his hometown of Norrköping, Sweden.
Olsson was diagnosed in February 2024 with a rare inflammation of brain vessels and multiple small blood clots, requiring prolonged artificial ventilation and rehabilitation.
He has gradually regained motor and verbal abilities through extensive rehabilitation and is now training with IFK Norrköping, his youth club, to prepare for a possible return to professional football.
The former Swedish national player, with 47 caps, expressed optimism about his recovery and motivation to contribute to a team again.
Olsson received an emotional send-off from FC Midtjylland fans during a match against Brøndby IF, marking the end of his tenure with the Danish club.
