Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem announced Todd Lyons as the new acting director of ICE and Madison Sheahan as deputy director.
The leadership changes follow the reassignment of former acting director Caleb Vitello due to dissatisfaction with the pace of deportations.
Todd Lyons, a longtime ICE official and former Air Force member, has held various enforcement roles, including overseeing operations across 25 U.S. field offices.
Madison Sheahan, previously the secretary of Louisiana’s Department of Wildlife and Fisheries, has prior ties to Noem from her time as South Dakota governor.
The Trump administration aims to reinvigorate ICE operations, which have not met deportation levels seen during the Biden administration's final year.
