Kris Wu's Appeal Rejected, 13-Year Sentence Upheld

The former K-pop star will serve his sentence for rape and 'group lewdness' charges, with an additional fine for tax evasion.

Chinese-Canadian pop star Kris Wu's appeal against his 13-year sentence for rape and 'group lewdness' charges has been rejected by a Beijing court.
The court maintained that Wu took advantage of multiple victims' drunkenness to have sexual relations with them, constituting the crime of rape.
Wu was also found to have gathered a crowd to engage in lewd activities, with the court ruling this behavior constituted the crime of 'group licentiousness'.
Wu, a former member of K-pop group EXO, was a massive star in China with numerous brand endorsements, all of which have since severed ties with him.
In addition to his sentence, Wu was fined $64 million for tax evasion.
