Krasnodar Courts Issue 18.5-Year Term in Child Sex-Abuse Case and 15-Year Sentence for Mephedrone Operation

Both cases stem from Investigative Committee as well as FSB operations, with the verdicts not yet in legal force.

Overview

  • A 33-year-old resident of Kurganinsky District was convicted of rape and violent sexual acts against a girl over 2020–2025 and received 18 years and 6 months in a strict-regime colony plus two years of freedom restrictions.
  • The court found him guilty under multiple parts of Criminal Code Articles 131 and 132, indicating the crimes began before the victim turned 14.
  • In a separate case, a jury unanimously convicted Alexander Blazhevich under part 5 of Article 228.1 for large-scale illegal drug circulation.
  • Prosecutors said Blazhevich, acting on instructions from unidentified persons, helped run a lab in Grivenskaya that produced 45.7 kilograms of mephedrone between April 1 and May 5, 2023.
  • The Krasnodar Regional Court sentenced Blazhevich to 15 years in a strict-regime colony and a 300,000 ruble fine, and authorities noted proceedings for his alleged accomplice are suspended.
