Kraken Introduces Ink, a New Ethereum Layer-2 Network on Optimism's Superchain

The crypto exchange aims to enhance DeFi capabilities with its upcoming network, leveraging Optimism's OP Stack for improved interoperability.

Kraken's new layer-2 network, Ink, is set to launch on Ethereum's mainnet in early 2025, following a testnet debut in November 2024.
Ink will be part of Optimism's Superchain, which includes nearly 30 other chains, enhancing interoperability and reducing fragmentation among Ethereum layer-2 networks.
The network is designed to support fast, one-second block times and aims to facilitate activities like decentralized lending and perpetual futures trading.
Kraken will share sequencer revenues with the Optimism Collective and participate in its governance, similar to other networks using the OP Stack.
With Ink, Kraken joins a growing list of crypto and non-crypto firms adopting Optimism's technology, positioning itself as a key player in the evolving DeFi landscape.
