Overview
- On a three-day Sindh tour, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi moved from Karachi to Hyderabad to mobilise supporters ahead of a planned January 11 rally at Bagh-e-Jinnah at 4:30pm.
- Sindh Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon said the Karachi East deputy commissioner issued a permit under strict conditions, including organizer responsibility for law and order, restricted speech, traffic management and an early finish, with revocation possible for security reasons.
- Earlier, Karachi district administration sources said no written permission had been granted, and Afridi maintained PTI had not received written clearance even as he vowed the rally would proceed.
- Afridi was formally welcomed in Karachi by Sindh minister Saeed Ghani with traditional cap and Ajrak, and he contrasted the reception with his disrupted Punjab visit.
- A scheduled meeting between Afridi and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah was cancelled due to Shah’s schedule, as Afridi reiterated opposition to all terror groups and called for a joint political approach, while federal aide Rana Sanaullah warned of legal action against disruptive protests.
