KP Chief Minister Afridi Opens Door to Establishment Talks as PTI Sets Sindh Push Before Feb. 8 Protest

PTI has fixed a Jan. 9–11 Sindh tour to shift its mobilisation south ahead of a planned Feb. 8 protest.

Overview

  • Afridi said he is ready to engage state institutions on provincial issues but noted Imran Khan assigned formal dialogue to Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas.
  • Afridi signalled he would meet Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir if an official forum is convened and said any discussion on Imran Khan’s release needs a conducive political environment.
  • PTI Secretary General Salman Akram Raja arrived in Karachi to finalise arrangements, with Afridi scheduled to visit Karachi and Hyderabad from Jan. 9 to 11 for public outreach and meetings.
  • PTI’s Sindh plan includes engagements with lawyers, media and intellectuals, as well as a visit to Mazar-e-Quaid, to build momentum for the party’s street campaign.
  • Afridi’s Lahore tour faced heavy police restrictions and reported detentions, prompting a formal complaint to Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, while he confirmed the Feb. 8 protest will proceed.
