Korostelyev Rebounds to 12th in Toblach Pursuit as Nepryaeva Takes 16th at Tour de Ski

Russian athletes are competing under neutral status following a CAS decision that reopened World Cup entries.

Overview

  • Savely Korostelyev finished 12th in the 20 km classic pursuit in Toblach in 47:55.5, rising to 10th overall at 1:54 behind leader Johannes Klaebo.
  • Klaebo won the men's race ahead of Norway's Mattis Stenshagen and Sweden's Edvin Anger and leads the general classification.
  • Daria Nepryaeva placed 16th in the women's 20 km in 55:31.1, finishing 3:17 behind winner Jessica Diggins, who retains the overall lead.
  • A day earlier, Nepryaeva recorded a World Cup stage best of eighth in the 5 km mass start, while Korostelyev's late fall left him 64th overall in that race.
  • Korostelyev's mother said the pursuit showed he worked effectively within his group, and the Tour de Ski now moves to Val di Fiemme through January 4.
