Overview
- The cold wave reached its peak Tuesday, with morning readings falling 1 to 8 degrees Celsius from Monday and first frost and ice observed in many regions including Seoul.
- Seoul dipped to around 3 degrees Celsius, while Paju fell to minus 3.1 and Cheorwon to minus 3.7, all below seasonal norms according to the Korea Meteorological Administration.
- The season’s first cold wave advisories covered parts of Gyeonggi, Gangwon, North Chungcheong and North Gyeongsang, with additional alerts issued for Gunwi in Daegu and some advisories later lifted in North Gyeongsang.
- Forecasters warned of frost or ice through Wednesday and large day–night swings of up to 15 degrees, with strong winds making apparent temperatures markedly lower than measured values.
- Temperatures are expected to begin rebounding from Wednesday afternoon, return closer to average by Thursday, and be followed by rain spreading nationwide from late Friday into Saturday.
