Korean Air Signs $50 Billion Package for 103 Boeing Jets, Engines and Services

The Washington signing positions the merged carrier for fleet renewal with deliveries scheduled through 2030.

Overview

  • Korean Air’s commitment covers 20 777-9s, 25 787-10s, 50 737-10s and eight 777-8 freighters, totaling 103 Boeing aircraft.
  • The package comprises $36.2 billion for aircraft, about $690 million for 19 spare engines, and roughly $13 billion for a 20-year GE Aerospace maintenance contract.
  • Several models in the deal—the 737-10, 777-9 and 777-8F—are not yet certificated, so final contracts and delivery timing depend on regulatory approvals.
  • The agreement was formalized in Washington at a ceremony attended by Korean Air, Boeing and GE leaders alongside senior U.S. and South Korean officials.
  • Boeing describes it as Korean Air’s largest order and its biggest widebody order from an Asian carrier, and says the package will support an estimated 135,000 U.S. jobs when finalized.
