Korean Air, IIAC Sign Deal for New Incheon MRO Hangar

The KRW 176 billion project anchors a broader push to position Incheon as a maintenance hub supporting the planned integrated carrier.

Overview

  • Korean Air and Incheon International Airport Corporation finalized the H3 Maintenance Facility agreement at the Grand Hyatt Incheon with executives and more than 90 public officials in attendance.
  • The hangar will sit on a 69,299-square-meter site and accommodate two widebody aircraft plus one narrowbody at the same time.
  • Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027 with operations targeted for late 2029, and roughly 300 specialized staff will be based at the facility.
  • The next-generation site is designed for full-spectrum work including airframe inspections, component checks, heavy maintenance and complex modification programs.
  • The hangar forms part of a larger buildout that includes a KRW 578 billion engine maintenance complex on Yeongjong Island and a KRW 1.2 trillion UAM and Aviation Safety R&D center in Bucheon.
