Overview

  • Kongsberg Defence Australia has secured two export deals valued at A$80m, including A$30m for coastal defence command-and-control consoles to Poland and A$50m for missile launcher systems to Spain and Denmark.
  • All manufacturing, assembly and testing will occur at the company’s Mawson Lakes facility in South Australia using entirely Australian-made components sourced from Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney.
  • The contracts represent Kongsberg Defence Australia’s first exports under the Albanese Government’s Global Supply Chain Program and fulfill domestic production requirements from Australia’s Naval Strike Missile procurement agreement.
  • Defence Industry Minister Pat Conroy and company executives say the deals mark the first time NSM launchers will be built outside Europe and the United States, advancing Australia’s sovereign guided-weapons capability.
  • The export agreements are expected to create about 60 skilled jobs at Kongsberg Defence Australia and across its local supply chain.
