Komatireddy’s Internal Poll Shows James Leading by Six Points

The campaign survey credits an Oct. 8 debate surge and stepped-up GOP spending as factors that could tighten the race before early voting begins.

Overview

  • An internal Republican poll conducted Oct. 12–14 and released Oct. 18 puts Letitia James at 50.7% and Saritha Komatireddy at 44.7%, a 6‑point gap, and the result has not been independently verified.
  • An earlier independent Siena poll from Sept. 11–17 showed James ahead 52% to 39% and found that more than two‑thirds of likely voters had low name recognition of Komatireddy.
  • Campaign finance filings reported in October show a large cash advantage for James with about $6.2 million in campaign cash versus roughly $323,000 for Komatireddy.
  • The internal survey reports Komatireddy gaining in Long Island, downstate suburbs, upstate New York and among independents while James retains a large lead in New York City.
  • Outside Republican groups have announced seven‑figure spending and Donald Trump has endorsed Komatireddy, and the campaigns are racing to convert debate viewers into voters before early voting starts Oct. 24.
