Overview
- Metro Railway announced Thursday that it will run special services on the Blue, Green, Yellow, Purple and Orange lines for Durga Puja between October 15 and 21.
- The Blue and Green lines will move to extended and overnight operations for Maha Saptami through Maha Navami with the Blue running about 248 services daily from 1:00 pm to 4:00 am and the Green about 192 services from 1:30 pm to 3:59 am with six- and eight-minute peak intervals respectively.
- The Orange Line will operate limited daytime services on October 15–16 but will have no Metro services from October 17 through 21, while Dashami services on some lines are shortened compared with peak-puja days.
- Yellow and Purple services are adjusted by corridor: Yellow keeps daytime runs with some direct airport-to-Shahid Khudiram trains and reduced evening service on peak puja days, and Purple shifts to shorter afternoon-evening windows with lower frequency from Saptami through Dashami.
- Passengers are urged to use smart cards or the AAMAR KOLKATA METRO app to avoid ticket-counter queues and to avoid boarding overcrowded trains so operations remain smooth, a change intended to speed pandal travel and reduce road congestion during nightly puja crowds.
