Overview
- The 31st KIFF runs November 6–13 at the Dhono/Dhana Dhanyo Auditorium and other Kolkata venues, opening with Ajay Kar’s 1961 classic Saptapadi.
- Organizers programmed 215 films from 39 countries, including 185 features and 30 shorts across 18 Indian languages and 30 foreign languages.
- Poland is the focus country with 19 films on the slate alongside a special exhibition of Polish film posters.
- Six restored Ritwik Ghatak films, including Meghe Dhaka Tara, Komal Gandhar and Subarnarekha, screen across the city from November 7 to 13.
- The opening ceremony features Sourav Ganguly lighting the lamp, a performance by Dona Ganguly, and appearances by Shatrughan Sinha, Ramesh Sippy, Sujoy Ghosh and Sharmila Tagore.
