Overview
- Škoda has officially approved a direct successor to the Karoq that will be offered as a plug‑in hybrid for the first time and sold alongside the fully electric Elroq.
- The new Karoq will continue on Volkswagen Group’s MQB platform and will use powertrain hardware closely related to the larger Kodiaq.
- Škoda is targeting an electric-only range of more than 100 kilometres for the Karoq PHEV to allow most daily trips to be driven on battery power.
- The model is aimed for market launch in 2027 or 2028 and will be priced to sit in the same area as the Elroq to give buyers a choice between pure EV and PHEV solutions.
- Škoda said the decision reflects customer demand and will let the brand differentiate from the VW T‑Roc, which is not expected to get a plug‑in hybrid in its next generation, while keeping combustion backup for longer trips.
