Overview
- Friday’s Cambuur–ADO match in Leeuwarden was halted near full time after away fans threw fireworks toward home sections and clashes followed, then resumed roughly an hour later to finish 2-0.
- The KNVB called the scenes “horrific and utterly unacceptable” and outlined sanctions: at least 18 months for fireworks offenses, 36–48 months for public violence, and 60 months for field incursions.
- ADO’s chief executive Natascha van Grinsven-Admiraal condemned the offenders and pledged an internal investigation to identify and ban those responsible.
- Emergency services handled separate incidents: the EOD neutralized crystallized hazardous substances found at Hogeland College in Warffum, and suspected heavy fireworks caused damage to a parked car in Rotterdam-Hoogvliet and a tanning studio in Dordrecht.
- On the field, Vitesse drew 1-1 at FC Dordrecht to remain bottom of the Eerste Divisie, while GVVV beat IJsselmeervogels 3-0 in Bunschoten, deepening the hosts’ relegation worries; Utrecht police also said a Koningsnacht assault suspect in Bunschoten has been identified and questioned.
