KNVB Condemns Cambuur–ADO Unrest, Vows Tough Bans After Fireworks Halt Match

ADO Den Haag says it will identify those responsible and expel them from the club.

Overview

  • Following late-game disorder in Leeuwarden, the KNVB labeled the incidents "abhorrent and completely unacceptable" and outlined lengthy stadium bans: at least 18 months for fireworks offenses, 36–48 months for public violence, and 60 months for entering the pitch.
  • ADO’s general director Natascha van Grinsven-Admiraal denounced the actions, said the perpetrators are not supporters, and pledged an internal investigation to track them down and remove them.
  • The match was stopped in the final minutes after fireworks were thrown from the away section toward Cambuur fans; play resumed after roughly an hour, the 2-0 score stood, and ADO suffered its first league loss since August.
  • Separately, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal service neutralized two jars containing crystallized, hazardous substances discovered during cleanup at Hogeland College in Warffum.
  • In Rotterdam-Hoogvliet, a parked car was damaged by an explosion that 112 reporters say likely involved heavy fireworks, and authorities are investigating.
