Overview
- The KNMI issued a national code yellow for Thursday to warn of heavy, fast-developing convective showers that may include thunder, hail and strong gusts.
- Forecasters say hailstones could reach about 2 centimetres and wind gusts may hit roughly 65 km/h, conditions that can damage cars, reduce visibility and slow traffic.
- The most intense downpours are short lived but can form quickly, so heavy rain and thunderstorms may hit some towns hard while nearby areas stay relatively dry.
- Regional timings differ with the west facing the warning roughly from 10:00–14:00 and the east roughly from 12:00–18:00, and the heaviest activity should ease by late afternoon or early evening.
- Models project a milder Friday with more sun, longer dry spells, less wind and temperatures near 18°C, though scattered showers are still possible overnight into the day.
