Overview

  • During routine internal tests, Kneipp found Burkholderia cepacia in three 200 ml ‘Lebensfreude’ batches (codes 2506917, 2506918, 2506919), prompting an immediate recall.
  • Sales and distribution of the affected tubes (EAN 4008233114781) have been suspended and consumers can obtain refunds at points of sale.
  • The bacterium thrives in moist environments, is often resistant to antibiotics, and poses severe infection risks for immunocompromised individuals, notably cystic fibrosis patients.
  • While the product is considered largely safe for healthy users, Kneipp advises discontinuing use of any recalled shower gel tubes.
  • The recall is confined to the specified 200 ml batches and no other Kneipp products have been linked to contamination.
