Kloster Beuerberg Partially Reopens as Modern Seminar and Cultural Centre

Funded by the Erzdiözese München und Freising at a cost of €43 million, the four-year refurbishment marries baroque restoration with contemporary seminar amenities

Overview

  • On May 30, 2025, the main building opened with 25 guest rooms, 11 themed seminar spaces and a refectory ready for conferences and retreats.
  • The adjoining Josefstrakt remains closed after leaks in its sewage system were discovered and is now slated to welcome guests in autumn 2025.
  • Diözesanmuseum Freising director Christoph Kürzeder led the project team in stripping away 20th-century alterations to expose original 18th-century walls, ceilings and frescoes.
  • Visitors can admire restored highlights such as the Wessobrunner School stucco in the Festsaal and the rebuilt 19th-century Marienbrunnen fountain.
  • Public access runs Thursday through Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm with guided tours available outside scheduled seminar events.
