Klopp Leads Training and Q&A at DFB Campus for Project’s 100th Visit

The session strengthened ties between the national team and grassroots clubs by giving the coach a chance to offer hands-on coaching, practical advice, and personal stories to nine- and ten-year-old players.

Overview

  • The event took place Wednesday, October 21, 2026, when Germany coach Jürgen Klopp joined U19 coach Hanno Balitsch at the DFB-Campus in Frankfurt for the 100th edition of the DFB outreach project Der beste Tag.
  • Klopp and Balitsch ran a 67-minute training for 36 E‑youth players from SG Oberlahn and Sportfreunde Sölderholz, after which each child received a DFB jersey, the group took a photo, and both coaches signed autographs.
  • At a children’s press conference Klopp told the players that to get very good you must practice a lot and enjoy it, shared a humorous Liverpool anecdote about a stranger in his home, and said he and his wife still do their own shopping.
  • Balitsch described the visit as special and said the program exists to connect the DFB with grassroots football and to show that the federation’s work goes beyond the national team.
  • The milestone visit renews the DFB’s public outreach by giving local clubs direct access to national-team staff, a move that can boost youth motivation, raise small-club visibility, and reinforce ties between talent pathways and the federation.
