KKR Closes $19.2 Billion Infrastructure Fund Focused on Data Centers

The raise aims to secure long-term, lease-like power and connectivity assets that hyperscalers need to scale AI capacity.

Overview

  • KKR said on Monday it closed Global Infrastructure Investors V at $19.2 billion to invest primarily in North America and Western Europe.
  • The firm has already committed more than $9 billion from the fund to initial investments, including deals tied to Global Technical Realty in Europe and EDF Power Solutions in North America.
  • Fund V was backed by a broad global investor base of pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, insurers, asset managers and family offices and adds to KKR’s roughly $120 billion infrastructure equity platform.
  • KKR is aligning the fund with its Helix Digital Infrastructure effort, which it launched with Nvidia and Vistra, to buy data centers, power and connectivity because hyperscalers need immediate, reliable capacity and long-term power contracts.
  • The raise highlights fierce competition for scarce, high-quality digital infrastructure from other large managers and could push up prices for assets that provide stable, lease-like cash flows while affecting regional energy planning and data capacity availability.
