Kitten Rescued From Car Wheel Well After Hannover-to-Bochum Journey

Firefighters in Bochum used careful vehicle teardown to reach the microchipped pet for return to its owners.

Overview

  • After parking in Bochum on Oct. 16, a driver heard faint meowing and alerted the fire dispatch.
  • Crews from Fire and Rescue Station I traced the sounds to the rear wheel well on Bahnhofstraße in Wattenscheid.
  • The team secured and slightly lifted the car, removed the rear wheel, and took off part of the wheel-well lining to access the kitten.
  • The rescue took about 70 minutes, and both the animal and firefighters were reported to be well afterward.
  • A microchip confirmed owners in Hannover, and the driver who unknowingly transported the cat agreed to take it back.
