Overview
- The Mumbai Fire Brigade received a report at 9:18 am Monday and declared the incident a Level-1 fire at 9:25 am.
- The fire began in a hotel kitchen on the first floor of Kohinoor Square opposite Shiv Sena Bhavan and was reported to be contained to that area.
- Firefighters led the response and municipal agencies including Mumbai Police, BEST, the Public Works Department, the municipal health department, a 108 ambulance service and ward staff were mobilised to the scene.
- On-scene video showed thick smoke in the west tower, firefighters conducting dousing operations and occupants exiting the building, and authorities reported no injuries in initial updates.
- Officials have not released findings on cause or a full damage assessment, and the building's ground-plus-50-storey structure height complicates evacuation access and high-rise firefighting operations.
