The band played their final human performance at Madison Square Garden on December 2, 2023, and announced their plans to continue as digital avatars.
The avatars were created by George Lucas' Industrial Light & Magic, in partnership with Sweden's Pophouse Entertainment Group.
Gene Simmons, a member of the band, stated that the avatars will 'get better', revealing that 'about 200 million' dollars is being invested in the technology.
Pophouse CEO Per Sundin has stated that the company is still figuring out the best way to use the avatars, suggesting possibilities such as a Kiss concert, a rock opera, a musical, or a story.
