Overview
- A four-car Kintetsu local train derailed inside Kintetsu Kyoto Station at about 5:15 a.m. on Monday, June 29, 2026, when the second and third cars left the rails passing a turnout roughly 120 meters from the platform.
- The driver reported a rearward pulling sensation and stopped the train; crew escorted roughly 10–30 passengers on foot back to the station and there were no injuries reported.
- Service on the Kyoto Line between Kyoto and Kamitobaguchi is suspended and timetable disruptions are affecting other sections of the line.
- Transfer arrangements with JR, Keihan and the Kyoto City Transportation Bureau began around 5:40 a.m. to ease commuter impact while the line is out of service.
- The Transport Safety Board has sent two accident investigators to the site and Kintetsu says it is investigating the cause as physical recovery and point inspections are expected to take time.
