- On August 1, the Kingston Police Major Crime Unit announced a second-degree murder charge against 22-year-old Thi My Nguyen in connection with her newborn’s death.
- The investigation began on July 27 after a deceased infant was discovered at a west-end home on Albany Drive.
- Nguyen was first arrested on July 29 and charged with improperly interfering with a dead body before being remanded in custody on July 30.
- Kingston Police’s patrol and forensic identification divisions worked with the Office of the Chief Coroner and Ontario Forensic Pathology Service on the multi-agency inquiry.
