Kings Island Revives Phantom Theater With New Interactive Dark Ride for 2026

Sally Dark Rides brings back fan-favorite characters through new animatronics with flashlight-based gameplay to tap nostalgia.

Overview

  • Set for spring 2026, the attraction will replace Boo Blasters on Boo Hill in the same building, which closes after Monday, September 1.
  • Sally Dark Rides is manufacturing the family dark ride as a modern homage to the 1992–2002 original.
  • Guests will ride in enchanted opera boxes and use spellbound flashlights to capture ghost notes released from the Maestro’s pipe organ.
  • The experience spans 26 interactive scenes featuring multi-sensory effects such as wind and sound, hidden Easter eggs, and a grand musical finale.
  • Animatronic versions of Houdelini, The Great Garbanzo, Hilda Bovine, and Lionel Burymore return alongside a new character named Arpeggio.
