Kings' Goalie Pheonix Copley Out for Season Following ACL Surgery

David Rittich Steps Up as Backup to Cam Talbot Amid Kings' Recent Struggles

Los Angeles Kings goalie Pheonix Copley will miss the remainder of the season after undergoing successful ACL reconstruction surgery.
Copley was injured in practice on Dec. 15 and has played just eight games this season, going 4-1-2 with a 3.16 goals against average and .870 save percentage.
Cam Talbot, who the Kings signed to a one-year, $2 million contract during the offseason, is the No. 1 goalie with a 14-8-3 record this season, a 2.10 GAA and .925 save percentage.
David Rittich, who was recalled from the AHL on Dec. 15, has become the backup goalie to Talbot, going 2-0-1 with a 1.62 GAA and .926 save percentage in three starts.
The Kings are currently third in the Pacific Division with 46 points, but have gone winless in their last four games, including two losses in shootouts.
