Overview

  • On July 28, King Frederik X, Queen Mary and their children, Princess Isabella and Prince Vincent, were formally received by Sønderborg City Council ahead of moving into Gråsten Palace for their annual summer stay.
  • During a walkabout through the town square, Queen Mary was stung by a wasp on her thigh and briefly withdrew indoors for a routine medical check before returning to greet well-wishers.
  • In his short address, King Frederik noted that Crown Prince Christian and Princess Josephine will join the rest of the family at Gråsten Palace later this summer.
  • Gråsten Palace has served as the Danish royal family’s traditional summer residence since its acquisition in 1935 by King Frederik IX and Queen Ingrid.
  • The royal couple relocated to Gråsten after a private holiday at Château de Cayx in France, during which Queen Margrethe II and Crown Prince Christian acted as regents.
