  • On July 28, King Charles visited Scrabster Harbour in Caithness to mark 70 years of Dounreay research, 50 years of Pacific Nuclear Transport Limited and 20 years of the Nuclear Decommissioning Authority
  • He unveiled commemorative plaques on Jubilee Pier and the Pacific Heron vessel to honour milestones in nuclear research and transport
  • The monarch met local sea cadets, RNLI volunteers, Dounreay engineers and community members at Fish Market Hall to recognise decommissioning and clean-up work
  • Dounreay, which pioneered fast-reactor research from 1955 to 1994, is now Scotland’s largest nuclear clean-up and waste-management project under the NDA
  • President Trump remains in Scotland visiting his golf courses, with both governments confirming their in-person meeting at Windsor Castle during his state visit from September 17 to 19
