King Charles III Re-presents Squadron Standard at RAF Lossiemouth

  • King Charles III re-presented the new Squadron Standard to Number 42 (Torpedo Bomber) Squadron in a stand-up parade marking its reformation.
  • He toured the Poseidon hangar and inspected a P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft to showcase its anti-submarine, surveillance and search-and-rescue capabilities.
  • The monarch publicly thanked service families for their “encouragement and understanding,” noting their critical support ahead of VJ Day and his annual summer break.
  • He praised RAF Lossiemouth’s Quick Reaction Alert function and highlighted the base’s world-leading training of NATO personnel from Canada, Norway and Germany.
  • The King also met members of the Typhoon air wing, children from the Airplay Youth support programme and local community project representatives.
