Overview
- On July 17, 2025, King Charles III marked the centre’s 40th anniversary by opening the King Charles III Wing and launching the King Charles III Programme of fellowships and leadership initiatives
- The programme will encompass fellowships, leadership development for young Muslims, scholarships, environmental conferences
- In his speech the monarch described the centre as a “beacon of Islamic scholarship” and praised its dedication to objective research and international cooperation
- Dr Farhan Ahmad Nizami, Chancellor Lord William Hague, Prince Turki Al-Faisal and Vice Chancellor Professor Irene Tracey joined the King at the inauguration and reception
- Founded in 1985, granted a Royal Charter in 2012 and housed in a £100 million Marston Road complex since 2017, the centre has become a leading hub for Western-Islamic academic exchange
