Overview
- Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, who has cared for Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis since 2014, received the Royal Victorian Medal (Silver).
- The New Year Honours list, published on December 29, records the recognition of the Norland-trained, Spanish-born nanny’s long service to the Prince and Princess of Wales.
- The Royal Victorian Medal is conferred at the sovereign’s discretion rather than on ministerial advice or committee recommendation.
- Borrallo has occasionally been seen at family events, most recently on December 16 when she was photographed leaving a Buckingham Palace Christmas lunch with the Wales family.
- Other royal household staff were also honoured, including King Charles’s medical team appointed as Lieutenants of the Royal Victorian Order and the Waleses’ driver Lance Sergeant Scott Robin Bishop, who received an RVM (Silver).
