Kieran Cuddihy Named New Liveline Host as RTÉ Overhauls Radio 1 Line-Up

RTÉ is reshaping its weekday schedule to refresh Radio 1 following a series of presenter exits.

Overview

  • RTÉ confirmed former Newstalk presenter Kieran Cuddihy will take over Liveline, succeeding Joe Duffy after his June retirement.
  • The new weekday grid moves Today with David McCullagh to 9am, extends Oliver Callan from 11am to 1pm, shifts Louise Duffy to mid‑afternoon, and pairs Katie Hannon with Colm Ó Mongáin on Drivetime from 4pm to 6pm, with a new daily sports show at 6pm.
  • The rollout timetable has not been finalised and is expected later this year, with two additional Morning Ireland presenters to be announced in the coming weeks.
  • Newstalk told staff by internal email that Cuddihy has left the station and that Thursday’s programme was his final show there.
  • Cuddihy was pulled from RTÉ’s Late Late Show after Newstalk said he remains under contract and sent legal letters, and RTÉ said he was unable to appear.
