Overview

  • Kia began mass production of the EV4 hatchback on August 20 at its AutoLand Slovakia facility, the brand’s first fully electric model built in Europe.
  • The EV4 hatch will be assembled exclusively in Slovakia after a €108 million modernization that added technologies including an EV battery conveyor.
  • Built on Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform, the EV4 offers 58.3 kWh and 81.4 kWh battery options, WLTP range up to about 391 miles, and V2L/V2G capability.
  • The EV4 Fastback (saloon) will not be European-made and is slated for production at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO plant in South Korea.
  • Kia plans additional European launches, with the EV5 due later this year, the entry-level EV2 in 2026, and the PV5 electric van expanding across markets, while Electrek reports North American availability remains limited with EV5 confirmed only for Canada in early 2026.
