Kia Sets 100,000-Unit Targets for EV2 and EV4 by 2027 as It Ramps European EV Production

The push centers on localizing EV manufacturing in Slovakia to reach profitable volumes.

Overview

  • CEO Ho Sung Song now targets about 100,000 EV2s at the Zilina plant in 2027 and projects EV4 global output of roughly 100,000 units with more than 80,000 built in Slovakia.
  • EV4 assembly began on August 20 at Zilina, marking Kia’s first EV produced in Europe, with EV2 scheduled to join the line in 2026.
  • Kia is investing €108 million to prepare Zilina for EV2 and EV4, with installed capacity of 320,000 vehicles that can stretch to about 350,000 with overtime.
  • Management expects European EV output to roughly triple over the next two years, a shift from earlier lower guidance following stronger-than-expected EV4 launch feedback.
  • A new labor agreement in Korea confirms PV7 production from 2027 at Hwaseong EVO and a new EV codenamed CB at Hwaseong Plant 2 by 2030.
