Kia Rolls Out Plug & Charge for EV6 This Month, EV9 to Follow in Q4

The feature ties into Kia Connect with Charge Pass for automatic authentication at compatible stations including Tesla Superchargers.

Overview

  • Kia says Plug & Charge will be enabled on eligible 2025 EV6 vehicles by the end of September 2025 and on eligible 2026 EV9 vehicles in the fourth quarter.
  • Owners must activate the feature in the Kia Access app and maintain active Kia Connect and Kia Charge Pass accounts with a default payment method.
  • At compatible DC fast chargers, vehicle identification and billing occur automatically, removing the need for apps, cards, or on-site payment steps.
  • Supported operators include the Tesla Supercharger network and Electrify America, enabling true plug-in-and-go sessions where the feature is available.
  • The 2025 EV6 and 2026 EV9 have native NACS ports, but many U.S. non-Tesla fast chargers use CCS1 connectors, requiring adapters at those locations.
