Kia Recalls More Than 300,000 Telluride SUVs and K5 Sedans Over Loose Trim

Owner notifications will mail late September to start free inspections followed by trim replacements after NHTSA found adhesive failures can let trim detach, creating road hazards.

Overview

  • The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration issued recalls SC346 and SC347 for 100,063 K5 sedans and 201,149 Telluride SUVs from model years 2023 to 2025.
  • Kia traced the defect to a supplier’s insufficient adhesive application, causing door belt moldings and C-pillar trim faceplates to delaminate.
  • Detached trim pieces can fall into traffic and increase the risk of crashes for other road users.
  • Kia will cover free inspections and install improved trim assemblies at dealerships and reimburse owners for prior related repair costs.
  • Recall notification letters will mail on September 26, 2025, and Tellurides built after September 2024 already ship with upgraded, mechanically retained trim.
