Kia Opens First PBV Plant in Korea, Breaks Ground on Second at Hwaseong

The complex anchors a 4 trillion won program that targets 2.63 million electric vehicles produced in South Korea from 2026 to 2030.

Overview

  • EVO Plant East at Autoland Hwaseong is complete and configured to build the PV5 with an annual capacity of 100,000 units.
  • Kia began construction of EVO Plant West, which is slated to start operations in 2027 with capacity for 150,000 units including the PV7 and larger PBVs.
  • The two facilities form Hyundai Motor Group’s first dedicated PBV hub with a combined annual output target of 250,000 vehicles.
  • Kia confirmed total investment of 4 trillion won for facilities and R&D at the Hwaseong PBV complex.
  • The site will add a PBV conversion center and deploy E‑Forest smart-factory controls, automated guided vehicles, and both conveyor and cell assembly for flexible production.
