Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Orders Immediate Start of Swat Motorway Phase II
Groundwork for the Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan route is being expedited with Dir to proceed on provincial funding.
Overview
- Chief Minister Sohail Afridi directed construction to begin at once and designated Swat Motorway Phase II as a flagship project with priority resources.
- Officials said Swat Motorway Phase II and the Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan corridor will be delivered through public–private partnerships.
- Swat Motorway Phase II will extend 80 km from Chakdara Interchange to Fatahpur with nine interchanges and seven bridges over the Swat River.
- The 365 km Peshawar–Dera Ismail Khan motorway will feature 19 interchanges and two tunnels, with a groundbreaking planned soon.
- It was decided in principle that the Dir Motorway will be financed entirely by the province, with departments ordered to expedite legal and administrative clearances.
