Overview
- Early Friday state media and multiple reporters confirmed Ayatollah Ali Khamenei was laid to rest at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad, ending six days of funeral processions across Iran and Iraq.
- Massive crowds filled Tehran, Qom, Najaf, Karbala and Mashhad and officials at one point flew the coffin by helicopter for the final approach because streets and shrine grounds were overwhelmingly packed.
