Khalid Barrow Sentenced to Life for Murder of Cousin Nisaa Walcott

Barrow impersonated Walcott via text messages to her family and used her credit card for a week-long spending spree after the murder.

Khalid Barrow, 23, was sentenced to 25 years to life in prison for the murder of his cousin, Nisaa Walcott, 35, in February 2022.
Barrow strangled Walcott in her East Harlem apartment, hid her body in a plastic bin, and impersonated her via text messages to her family, including her 14-year-old son, Omir.
Barrow used Walcott's credit card for a week-long spending spree and attempted to cover up his crime by moving the bin containing Walcott's body multiple times.
Walcott's body was eventually discovered on a sidewalk across from a storage facility in the Bronx.
Omir Walcott delivered an emotional statement in court, describing the trauma he experienced due to Barrow's actions.
