This marks Pietersen's first coaching role in the IPL, having previously captained the Delhi franchise (then Delhi Daredevils) during the 2014 season.
The Delhi Capitals have revamped their squad for the upcoming season, adding key players such as KL Rahul, Harry Brook, and Mitchell Starc, while releasing Rishabh Pant.
Pietersen joins a coaching staff led by head coach Hemang Badani, alongside assistant coach Matthew Mott, bowling coach Munaf Patel, and director of cricket Venugopal Rao.
The Delhi Capitals, one of the few IPL teams yet to win a title, aim to break their trophy drought in the 2025 season, which begins on March 22.
