Kerala Unveils Portal to Run NSS School Units Online From 2025–26

A KITE-built portal centralises records, attendance, and evaluations to cut paperwork.

Overview

  • Kerala will move administration of National Service Scheme units in higher secondary and vocational higher secondary schools to a fully online platform starting with the 2025–26 academic year.
  • The rollout covers about two lakh students and is described by officials as the first such full digital transition for NSS administration in India.
  • Programme Officers can schedule activities directly from action plans and record session attendance instantly through the new NSS Management System.
  • All registers, including the cash book, shift from manual books to online records, while district and state authorities conduct camp and inter-district evaluations through the system.
  • KITE has published tutorials and step-by-step documentation, will provide ongoing technical support, and says it is prepared to implement similar systems in other states.
