Officials have trained 21.87 lakh residents with a 99.98% pass rate, preparing Phase II to digitise identity documents, bolster cyber-safety, expand e-governance access

Overview

  • Digi Keralam trained 21.87 lakh previously digitally illiterate citizens across Kerala, achieving a 99.98% pass rate verified by a Statistics Department audit.
  • The statewide drive scaled up from a 2021 Pullampara pilot, using door-to-door surveys of 83.45 lakh households to identify learners and grassroots networks for training.
  • More than 2.5 lakh volunteers—including students, Kudumbashree activists, NSS and NCC members—delivered community-based instruction, especially in areas with limited connectivity.
  • Over 15,000 participants aged 90 and above mastered essential digital tasks such as smartphone operation, internet banking, WhatsApp messaging and accessing e-governance platforms.
  • Phase II planning focuses on digitising Aadhaar and driving licences and launching cyber-fraud prevention initiatives to safeguard digital payments.
