Overview
- A 58-year-old man from Kumaramputhur near Mannarkkad died on July 12 in a Perinthalmanna hospital and tested positive for Nipah in initial Manjeri Medical College tests pending confirmation from the National Institute of Virology, Pune.
- Contact tracing teams have identified between 543 and 609 individuals statewide, including 46 linked to the latest case, who remain under observation and quarantine.
- Seventeen wards within a three-kilometre radius of the patient’s home in Kumaramputhur have been declared containment zones with movement restrictions and door-to-door fever surveys.
